KABUL A loud explosion was heard in the Afghan capital Kabul in the early hours of Monday and power appeared to be cut in parts of the city, according to Reuters reporters.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the blast, which came about a week after a suicide attack on a demonstration by members of Afghanistan’s Hazara community killed at least 80 people and wounded more than 230.
